Max Class Size: Approximately 12

If you can’t mark out a joint correctly, you can’t cut it correctly.  This offering is a brief, one evening workshop on measuring and marking out your work.  In the course of building a piece, we sometimes just miss the mark; a crucial cut is 1/32” off, a tenon too tight, or a dovetail outline is misplaced or transferred incorrectly. These annoying but very common mistakes can be avoided by careful measuring and marking out of your work.

We’ll guide you through the selection, preparation, and use of the most common and useful measuring and marking tools.  Thoroughly covered will be:  marking knives, rulers, marking gauges, squares (combination and fixed blade), dividers, and the depth gauge.  This course is sure to improve your accuracy and elevate the quality of your work.
