We all have our priceless keepsakes; objects with sentimental value that deserve a special place to keep them safe. Our keepsake box (4"x7"x”12") is perfect for storing and protecting those personal mementoes and it also makes a beautiful gift.

The box is made of solid wood and joined at the corners with box (or finger) joints; sturdy and good-looking, this joint is cut on the table saw and rivals the dovetail for strength and beauty.

The center panel of the lid is contained within a delicate frame, precisely joined with bridle joints. After the lid is assembled, a router is used to shape a delicate finger grip along the front edge. Then the lid is attached to the box by an ingenious pivoting-pin joint.

The completed box is a sleek and beautiful example of well-designed, and precisely executed machine work; coupled with careful hand-fitting and finishing. By using several shop-made jigs and fixtures, even beginners can complete this beautiful project in one weekend.
