Build an attractive stool suitable for sitting at a kitchen counter or island (9" by 17" seat, approx. 24" tall). It features splayed, curved legs and a scooped seat. There are almost no 90 degree angles in this piece.    Built with a butternut seat and walnut base, this will be an eye-catching addition to your home.

This wood working course teaches not only a great project, but also how to build and use various jigs which make difficult details easy to execute such as angled joinery and routing.   Among others, we will use jigs for the scooped seat (a router based gimbal device that was the subject of an American Woodworker magazine article), for the shaped legs (pattern routing), for a drill press to create the leg tenons and to drill the round mortises at the correct angle, and for mortising at an angle.

Course fee (including materials fee) $600
