In the past, veneers often evoked notions of inferior quality and craftsmanship, but no longer. Like turning and carving, the ability to veneer will dramatically expand the scope of your work and open new doors to you. Incorporate rare woods like Macassar ebony, rosewood, quilted maple, and walnut burl into your work.
In this basic class learn how to select and mill veneer, shoot and prepare seams and bookmatches, flatten veneer, and execute perfect patches. Also learn how to veneer edges, produce invisible seams, and trim and clean your work, producing flawless veneered panels.
Learn to work with veneer, both by hand with traditional hot hide glue and a veneer hammer, with the modern vacuum press, and other ingenious time-saving shop methods. Take your work up a notch.
