Milling Wood - Wood Selection

It is sometimes said that finishing a piece begins with wood selection. Here, the PFW instructors examine a walnut plank which has been cut into 3 pieces, and tentatively lay out the seat blank for a stool. The knot will be removed, but the burl around the knot will be used for its special shimmery appearance. This method of work is not the fastest way to build furniture but it is the best. The final appearance of the piece all comes back to the initial milling operations.
