Surface Preparation and Application of Oil/Varnish Finishes Workshop

Instructor - Mario Rodriguez/Alan Turner
6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. (evening)
Class Size - 12 Max.

An oil/varnish finish is attractive, durable, and easy to rejuvenate. It's also a great finish for any small shop without spray finish capability. But for any oil/varnish finish to look good, the surface must be painstakingly prepared and the correct finish carefully applied.

In this workshop, students will learn to sand and prepare a surface to receive oil finishes; how to advance from coarse to fine paper, how to "flush" and clean a surface, seal the wood, and to execute minor surface repairs.

The second part of the workshop will cover different types of oil and oil/varnish finishes, the application of surface sealers and final finishes, leveling and sanding, rubbing out, waxing, and repairs.

Learn how to get durable and beautiful finishes with a little patience and some elbow grease.

Cost: $165 (including all materials)
