The installation of the tail vise is a challenge. At PFW, we use some techniques more commonly found in a machinist's shop, drilling and tapping in socket drive flat head grade 8 machine screws to mount this important piece of hardware. John wasn't sure this would be strong enough, and actually threatened to lose a bit of sleep, but he stayed late one evening, and we tapped a piece of hard maple at 5/16 x 18, and with a long allen wrench he couldn't break the threads. He slept well, and the tail vises have also held up well.
