Build a beaded, flat panel, door and a quick and sturdy drawer for the cabinet built in part one of this course.
Learn how to build a cabinet door using several different traditional methods: Mortise and Tenon, and Cope and Stick. Frame and panel construction is the key to any large, solid-wood project. Whether building an architectural door, an armoire, or room paneling, this type of construction allows large panels of solid wood to move across the grain, and remain flat and intact.
This course covers flat panel, raised panels, beaded rails and stiles, and glass. You will install traditional butt hinges and learn how to install modern European cup hinges.
In this class the student will learn the use of a router and table saw to make the basic box drawer with machine cut dovetails. This type of drawer box is not your traditional hand cut dovetail drawer fitted by use of handplanes, but rather an efficient way to make strong drawers intended to operate either by use of modern drawer glides or a traditional web frame with guide rails. Add a separate drawerhead and you will have efficiently made a good looking and durable drawer well suited for built in cabinetry.
