Magnet holds plane aloft

Box joint and latch

Reusing corks

In this 2-day workshop, students will construct their tool chest (30”x30”) of ¾” Baltic Birch plywood, joined at the corners with sturdy and handsome box joints; then

construct various storage modules for their individual tools, such as an: angled plane

rack, saw till, chisel rack, and marking knife “pin cushion”. Any additions and changes

to our basic chest can be made once the woodworker returns to their shop.

The variety of a woodworker’s tools constantly changes.  As we get better, faster, and more accurate, the range of our tools becomes more specialized- and increasingly critical to our work.  Consider this weekend’s project only the beginning of your ongoing growth as a craftsperson.

Cost: $375 (including all materials and hardware)

In order to register, please call us at 215-849-5174, or drop us an email and we will forward the registration materials.

Wall-Hung Tool Cabinet

Instructor: Alan Turner

Max. Studetns:  12

A traditional way of storing and protecting a craftman’s tools was the wall hung tool cabinet.  During the 19th century, a craftsman’s tool chest proudly proclaimed the type of woodworker he was and revealed the pride he took in his work.  When open,

the chest displayed the arranged tools for easy access;  when closed, it protected

the contents.
