Instructor: Craig Vandall Stevens

  • April 6 - 7, 2019  9 am - 4 pm

  • October 19 - 20, 2019 9 am - 4 pm

Maximum Class Size: 9

Explore the essential fundamentals of the wood lathe while creating a beautiful 3-leg stool with a free-form seat. The stool, echoing the fluid style of Wharton Esherick’s famous design, is a satisfying project that covers the basics of woodturning, including the safe use of the wood lathe and lathe tools.

Fundamental techniques and the way turning gouges and chisels actually cut will be discussed in detail and put into practice by students as they turn accurate tenons and tapered legs. The splayed legs and hand-shaped seat create a light, strong and comfortable stool. In a fast paced two day class, students take home a completed project.

Cost includes all materials. Students provide their own lunch.
