Using a chainsaw mill to make short planks from a pin oak log

Greg’s interest in woodworking began in high school shop class where he made a canoe during an independent study.  While working several years as an electrical engineer, he took over 20 classes at PFW and quickly grew to love the school and furniture making.  Eventually, he left engineering and completed two sessions of the 12-week intensive with Craig Stevens at PFW.  After the second intensive, Craig recruited him to stay on and work at the school.

Greg’s role includes teaching, creating new classes, managing day-to-day operations, maintaining the shop, and, perhaps his favorite, continuing to learn from Craig while pushing his furniture making skills.  He aims to share his love of the craft while bringing a little joy to others, similar to what he felt when taking classes.  Beyond the confines of the shop, Greg aims to be more community-minded, including being more active in the woodworking community.  He is a believer in continuing education, whether that be traveling to New Hampshire to take a chairmaking class or taking a darkroom photography class at Community College of Philadelphia, knowing each new skill learned enhances what he can bring to the shop.
