April 6 - 20, 2026 6pm - 9pm (3 Monday evenings)
Whittling is an enjoyable woodworking activity that uses a knife to carve and shape a piece of wood. It’s one of the easiest and approachable ways to get into wood carving. Whether an experienced woodworker or just starting out, whittling is a satisfying, creative process that fine-tunes skills while making something by hand.
Along with handling a knife safely, this 3 evening class covers:
Various carving grips & techniques
Types of whittling knives
Sharpening knives
Laying out ideas in pencil
Strategies for working with a design, where to start, what to leave for last
Identifying and carving with the grain
